Censer By Apparatus

A result of experimentation with geometric forms in the Apparatus library, the Censer connects ancient ritual with the tradition of coveted objects. Spun, cast and machined brass are assembled to create a form that recalls a chalice. As an incense burner, smoke emerges from a hand-cast porcelain dome and as a candleholder the censer becomes a brass torch that emits a soft glow.

CPR Vase, Humble Matter

CPR Vase is part of the handmade vase collection by artist John Born in Brooklyn, NY in a white stoneware finish. Each signature piece is designed to complement the others as a group or stand alone to enhance the décor of any interior and is fired to 2232°F (1222 °C)—nearly the melting point of steel—for a lifetime of enduring strength and beauty and is sealed on the inside to be water-tight.

The surface is finished with white terra sigillata (thin washes of clay) and a metallic oxide, which produces its unique crackled surface.
